How to upload a document
Kuraly can read the text out of a photo, a scan or a PDF — a shop bill, a filled-in form, a printed page, a page of notes. Here is exactly what to do, what it accepts, and what it does with the result.

Open Scan
Sign in and go to Scan in your dashboard. You need an account for this — scanning is not available to guests, because the result is saved to your workspace.

Choose your file
Drop in a JPEG, PNG, WEBP or PDF. The limit is 10 MB per file. A photo taken on a phone is normally well under that; a long scanned PDF may not be.
A PDF is read page by page, and each page counts towards your allowance. A single image counts as one page.

Give it a hint, if you have one
You can tell Kuraly which language the document is in, and whether it is printed or handwritten. Both are optional — leave the language unset and it will work it out from the document.
Printed text is what the scanner is built for. Handwriting is supported experimentally: the option is there and it changes how the document is processed, but expect to correct more of the result.

Pick a folder
Choose which workspace folder the finished document should go into. If you skip this it is saved at the top level and you can move it later.

Upload, then leave it alone
Scanning runs in the background. You do not have to keep the page open — close the tab, come back later, and the finished document will be in your workspace. Larger PDFs naturally take longer than a single photo.

- Set a language or let Kuraly detect it. Built for Indian scripts as well as English.
- Allowance
- Scanning is counted in pages against your monthly allowance. Top-up packs cover anything beyond it.
- Where it goes
- Into your workspace as an editable document, in the folder you chose.
If something goes wrong
"Only JPEG, PNG, WEBP, or PDF files are allowed."
The file is a type Kuraly cannot read — commonly a HEIC photo from an iPhone or a Word document. Export or screenshot it as a JPEG or PDF first.
"File must be under 10 MB."
Usually a high-resolution scan. Reducing the resolution or saving as JPEG rather than PNG normally brings it well under the limit without hurting the text.
You are told you have run out of scans.
Each plan includes a number of pages a month, and a multi-page PDF uses several at once. You can buy a top-up pack, which is added to your allowance immediately.
The scan finished but the text is wrong in places.
Run it again with the language set explicitly, or with a better photo — even light, no shadow across the page, and the page square to the camera. Most bad results are a photo problem rather than a reading problem.
